Just Pray

Many times, over the many years of my walk with God, I've realised that in some seasons and through some situations, talking to Him is enough. I may love to read, write, and sing but sometimes I can't do any of those. Sometimes my heart is so full and my mind so busy that simple talks with God are what my soul needs. When things look upside down and when weapons appear to be prospering, JUST PRAY. Who He is, will always be Bigger than what's going on.

I walked across to the food court for lunch on Friday and on my way back, my heart began to say, "God you're good, you're awesome, you're mighty. Thank you for hearing me, thank you for being present with me always, thank you for the ability to come to you all the time for every little thing". As I weighed the tasks of the day that were still ahead though already at the end of the work week, as I navigated the whirlwind of emotions within me from events of the past weeks, and as I contemplated the good and not-so-good, realities in front of me, I guess I just needed to say 'hey' to God, in that moment. People were passing by, my feet were busily moving along and I'm sure my face looked pleasant like most others, but me...I was talking to God.

In the same way that you can never know what's going on in the lives and hearts of others, even those closest to you, it's the same way others can't know fully your circumstances. The awesomeness of God's love is that it never matters what is on your mind - it could be meager, seemingly illegitimate, or even unrealistic- God doesn't have a qualification metre for our concerns. We have the joy of being able to talk to Him about everything and I certainly do.

We often treat God as though He is out there somewhere and we have to shout and cry for His attention, especially when we're under pressure. However, we ought to know and remember how personal and close He is to us. It should be as if He is sitting shoulder to shoulder right beside you on your bed or chair, with one arm draped around you saying "Hey kid, what's up? Talk to Me!"

Imagine yourself tilting your head to cradle into His draped arms and telling him exactly how you feel ... "I'm tired, I'm overwhelmed, I'm frustrated, I feel undervalued, I am lonely, I am hurt, I am sad, I'm confused".

I'm grateful God is always with me. My drives to and from work are generally filled with my thoughts and quiet conversations with God. The consciousness of His presence is my prayer. It sometimes comes with words and sometimes it doesn't.

praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.

I think I have a simple encouragement today… just pray.

Stay mindful that He is a silent thought away, a whispered one-liner, or a deep sigh for help. It's an unmatchable comfort that no human can replicate. He is life, He is truth, He is love, He is Spirit. He is...whatever you need.

Just pray friend ...

Impossible situations get changed by prayer ...

Broken relationships get restored by prayer ...

Offense gets forgiven by prayer ...

Your heart is comforted through prayer ...

Your perspective is corrected with prayer ...

Your desires are defined by prayer ...
